8/23/2023 0 Comments P365 sasBoth 10-round and 15-round magazines are available from SIG SAUER. The original P365 had a magazine capacity of 10 rounds and the XL grip module is only ½” longer to accommodate the two extra rounds. Weight is just under 21 oz., barrel length is 3.7″ and the P365XL came with two 12-round 9mm magazines. There is a cutout under the grip frame where it meets the trigger guard and this cutout is enough for me to be able to get all three fingers on the grip. For comfortable shooting there is a compact beavertail matched with the grip frame textured all the way around. The magazine release is also on the left side behind the trigger guard and can be changed to the right side for left hand operation. There are no external safeties and operation of the P365XL is much like a double-action-only revolver - there are no decisions to make as it is simply ready to go when the trigger is pulled.Ĭontrols found on the left side of the frame are the slide lock lever and takedown lever. The trigger is an “X Signature” flat profile which I found much easier to work than safety triggers. There is also an integral accessory rail on the glass reinforced grip module in front of the trigger guard.Ĭocking serrations are found behind the front sight and under and to the front of the rear sight for easy slide manipulation. The P365XL is optic ready and removal of the rear sight assembly allows the installation of Romeo Zero and RMSc optics. I found the sights very easy to acquire and especially appealing in low-light situations. Both sights are set in dovetails to allow correcting windage, while different-height front sights are available to adjust elevation for a particular load. The P365XL incorporates XRa圓 Day/Night sights - a green-dot front sight set in a post and mated with a square-notch rear sight with a white dot on each side of the notch. It combines a black Nitron coated stainless steel slide with a black polymer grip. I had this to say about the 365XL: “This little pistol is definitely in the running for the coveted title of PPPP, or Perfect Packin’ Pocket Pistol.” First came the P365, which was then upgraded to the SIG SAUER P365XL. You can carry your P365 SAS in essentially any position you’d like with this holster, from the appendix to the strong side or kidney carry. Before we look at the P365 SAS, let’s take a quick look at its ancestry. It has adjustable retention and cant, a full sweat shield, and comes in a variety of colors or patterns. Want a sturdy but simple Kydex IWB holster? Check out Tulster’s Profile IWB holster. It’s versatile, comfortable, and affordable. You can even switch out the Kydex shell to accommodate other pistols while using the same backing. Even though I’ve switched to appendix carry, this was one of my go-to hybrid holsters. The Cloak Tuck line from Alien Gear is one of the most comfortable hybrid holsters that I’ve personally tried. So, I think going with a solid IWB holster would be my first and most important recommendation. Adding a light would only add bulk to your carry, which, if you’re entertaining this gun, I’m assuming you wouldn’t want. I normally would suggest some aftermarket sights or an optic in this section, but that’s obviously not going to be the case with this one. I’d like to see how I fare after a few hundred more rounds, but I think I’d still prefer a standard three-dot setup. Once I pushed out farther than 10-yards…let’s just say I wouldn’t want to count on this gun to save my life. Within about 10-yards, the sight was accurate if I took my time shooting. Surprisingly, it was very easy to pick up and get used to. This was my first time utilizing a sight like this, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. It features fiber optics for daylight visibility and tritium for low-light visibility. Instead, Sig decided to go with a single, embedded FT Bullseye sight instead of your standard rear sight. To accomplish that, you won’t find any front sight on the P365 SAS. One of the main areas that Sig wanted to reduce potential snagging on was the front sight. Hopefully, by the end of this article, you’ll know without a doubt if the P365 SAS is for you. The people I have talked with who have shot this gun seem to have mixed reviews, especially regarding the sights and the controls. The P365 SAS definitely has some unique features to highlight.
